Akkra Yeunyonghattaporn is one of Thailand’s most sought-after classical musicians.
A Thai-Canadian pianist, composer, and arranger, he is known for performances of poetic depth and intellectual clarity. His artistic voice brings together historical awareness and improvisatory freedom, while his compositions reflect a distinct sense of Thainess shaped by memory, culture, and spiritual reflection.
Akkra has performed throughout Asia, Europe, and North America, with broadcasts and interviews featured on public radio in Thailand, Canada, and the United States. As a composer and arranger, his works are regularly performed by leading Thai artists. His original music draws inspiration from memory, Thai cultural sensibilities, and spiritual reflection, while his arrangements informed by his background as an improviser unite classical idioms with jazz, popular, and global musical languages.
Equally active as a soloist and chamber musician, he has collaborated with members of major international orchestras and was previously a member of the award-winning Trio Phoenix.
He holds a Doctor of Music degree from McGill University, following studies at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory and the Peabody Conservatory.
