Chonlathan or “Ice” is holding an undergraduate law degree (LL.B.) from Thammasat University and a graduate law degree (LL.M.) in Public International Law from Leiden University, the Netherlands. He worked with Asylum Access Thailand, UNHCR and the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) before joining Hanns Seidel Foundation as a programme manager for the projects in Thailand as well as the ASEAN region.
The Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) is a German Political Foundation headquartered in Munich. It was founded in 1967. The foundation commits to promoting democracy, peace, and development through engagements in political education as well as collaborations with civil society organisations. Through his role, Ice works to strengthen the rule of law, the respect for human rights and sustainable development by cooperating with parliaments and other state agencies.
As a lawyer, he is able to offer his expertise in constitutional law, public international law and international human rights law. He is proud of having played a part in legislation to ensure that Thailand complies to international human rights standards, the work he compared to the “Spartan Race Beast”!
