Justin McAulay is an award-nominated, Bangkok-based director and colourist whose work specialises in visually striking and emotionally driven storytelling.

As the founder of Best Played Loud, Justin directs narrative shorts and commercials while also working as a freelance colourist on projects for clients across Thailand and the UK. His directing work focuses on moody filmic visuals with genre-focused concepts and has been screened on regional television across the UK.

As a colourist, Justin specialises in narrative shorts and feature films shot on celluloid and digital, in addition to commercials, with an emphasis on film emulation and cinematic look development. He has worked on a range of branded content and commercial projects, including spots for Panasonic and Downey, with several post-production houses in Bangkok.

Originally from the UK and trained in London, Justin has spent the past four years embedded in Thailand’s film industry, expanding his network of producers, DPs, sound operators/mixers, and post-studios, and continually developing new concepts through Best Played Loud. His long-term goal is to create distinct, narrative-driven commercial work and transition into full-time feature directing.
