Luis Palomino Benítez

Luis Palomino Benítez (Mexico City, 1984) is a director, screenwriter, and photographer.

His first short film, El Último Velo, screened at Cannes Critics’ Week in 2014.

His debut feature, Mi Sangre Enarbolada, an intimate exploration of grief following the simultaneous deaths of his mother and uncle, premiered at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in 2017 and was released in 2023 at Mexico’s Cineteca Nacional.

In 2021, he directed the short documentary A Plena Vista / ไม่มีแสงแนวระนาบ, filmed in Bangkok, portraying an impossible encounter between a blind saxophonist and a deaf-mute homeless man.

The film received nine awards, including the Danzante Iberoamericano at the Huesca International Film Festival, and screened at over fifty festivals worldwide.

His latest feature, จีวรย้อมสี / Dyed Robes, is a road movie about teenagers who disguise themselves as monks to escape family punishment.

Supported by FOCINE Postproducción, the film will be released in 2026 as the first Mexican–Thai co-production.

Focused on compassion and acceptance, Palomino seeks to understand the human condition through cinema.
