Maïté Dupont
Cityfab 1
Co-founder & FabManager
Maïté was born and grew up in Brussels, where she took the first steps on her career path between design, architecture and urban planning, before helping to set up the City of Brussels’ Smart City unit. After this initial and intense contact with new technologies, it was quite natural for her to embark on a new project: setting up cityfab 1, the first in the network of cityfabs public fablabs, the fruit of a partnership between the City and the Region.
Cityfab 1 brings together the different aspects of her personality and interests: new technologies and digital manufacturing for her geek side, project development and design for her creativity, and teaching and knowledge-sharing for her sociability and empathy.
Maïté has been involved with cityfab 1 for 7 years and still particularly appreciates the opportunities for project support that her position offers. She is always on the lookout for new opportunities for the makers community, whether it’s ambitious projects such as research into relocating urban production activities or spreading the maker culture through promotional events such as the Maker Faire that she organises with the Brussels Fablab Network, of which she is an active member.
